Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]?
1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV
About Me
I’m Shalese Pugh, a woman of faith with over 15 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian and owner of Temple Nutrition, LLC. I help women of faith struggling with hormonal imbalances and weight loss resistance to get back on track to a healthier body, clearer skin and more energy.
I’ve always been obsessed with food! I loved hanging around my Godmother who studied consumer sciences and worked in food service and catering yet always wished she had become a Dietitian. It was at the tender age of 12 years old, that I knew what I wanted to be. My mom even sent me to food science camps as a kid and I remember writing in my journal about food as a child. I’ve been a Registered Dietitian since 2005, after obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2003 from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my Master of Science in Nutrition alongside a Master in Public Health in 2005 from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
But, it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows. As an adult, I remember the feeling of struggling to find clothes that fit. I remember not feeling good for date night and feeling sluggish when the extra pounds made what felt like a permanent indention on my hips. I remember the feeling of always having to wear makeup to cover hormonal acne.
I took medication for hormonal acne but began to experience bad side effects and needed to stop taking It. I was looking for a solution to clear my skin and lose weight. I found the solution through functional nutrition. I was able to get to the root cause of the acne and weight resistance. It was tied to my hormones after I was spinning my wheels for years. My skin cleared up and I was able to lose weight.
Now I have committed to assisting women of faith that are struggling with hormonal imbalances and weight loss resistance to get back on track!
Functional Nutrition approach
It’s time to stop putting a bandaid over symptoms and get to the root cause of the hormonal imbalance and weight loss resistance.
